Research
Our research applies satellite observations and computational modelling to understand how dams, reservoirs, and river regulation shape water availability. We develop openly-available tools and datasets designed to work in data-sparse regions where in-situ monitoring is limited.
Research Themes
Global Reservoir Dynamics from Space – We integrate optical, SAR, and radar altimetry data to track surface-water storage change in reservoirs worldwide.
Regulated River Hydrology & Streamflow Modelling – We build model how anthropogenic activities regulate downstream river flow across transboundary basins.
Forecast-Informed Water Management – We couple weather-forecasts with satellite-based reservoir tracking to enable proactive dam operations for flood-risk reduction.
Open Hydrological Software – We develop and maintain community Python packages (RAT, ResORR) for reproducible, scalable hydrological analysis.
